I have a 2014 DCSB Sport and want to mount a dash cam at my rear view mirror and was wondering if there is a switched power wire located in the overhead console that I could tap into.

    Yes
If you have the compass or any powered accessory in your overhead console then yes there will already be power up there.

Thanks everybody, no compass or camera in mirror. Will study the wiring schematic in just a few, thanks for posting it.

Well that schematic does not work for a 2014. I only have map lights and the microphone for the Entune system located in the overhead console
Does anyone have the schematic for the 2014 .

5volt 1amp its a Mobius dash cam and its powered through a USB cable. I will have to step down a switched 12 volt circuit. Was hoping not have to have to run a wire all the way down the A pillar.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I have a 14 DCLB Sport and there are wires in the headliner for a compass/temp mirror. Did you pull the center console in the ceiling and look? It is taped to the headliner with pretty sticky black tape. There should be 3 wires. I have the generic mirror but the wires are there. Take a close look at yours.

The map and the dome have already been switched to LED's, I did not see the other wires mentioned will have to look a little closer. I did notice that there was a wire feeding the microphone for the entune that had switched 5volt current, but believe it would not be wise to tap into that wire as it may cause problems with the mic.

I can only imagine the dash cam wiring hookups in those Russian cars after they enjoy there morning bottle of vodka.

I'd just run it down the a-pillar. the pillar cover comes off with 2 screws, and it's very easy to tuck the wire up inside the headliner as it goes towards the rear view. my camera operates off of the same voltages as yours. if you run down the a-pillar, there is a ton of empty space behind the dash panel, right next to the left-hand AC vent. perfect place to stash the 12v > 5v converter. you can then tie into the IG-1 fuse slot by the coin holder. that way, as soon as you turn the key, the camera records, and when you take the key out, it shuts down.

I just cracked upen the 12v adaptor that came with the camera and soldered in leads for hard wiring.

There is a harness above the console in a 14.

Mine has plain Jane mirror with a plug with several wires. One might be switched idk since I never checked.

Pull down console and reach in.

Well that answers a lot of my questions, will pull console one more time and check for those hidden wires and if they are not usable will power it like Collin did his. Thanks for the pics. Appreciate all the help.

I just did the add-a-fuse and ran it up through the a-pillar. I used one of the bolt-in spots as the ground for it as well. Plenty of room next to the HVAC vent for the entire plug and converter to sit easily. The headliner was super-easy to run the large cable for the garmin nuvicam.

I tapped mine into the cigarette charger wiring. More work than other options, maybe, but I already had the center console out for something else
