    Howdy TW!

I've been dying to get into a Tacoma ever since the body style changed in '05. The stars have finally aligned and I bought my first one a few months ago. It really is the perfect truck for me. I love it. I've lurked on here for years even when driving my XJ. Some excellent builds and tons of inspiration that lead to my parts cache in the garage.

Added the OE skid plate, TRD emblem and stubby antenna before my plates even came in! Love the look.

Currently waiting to install my Toytec ULK. Hopefully I'll have time in the next couple weekends.

    image.jpg

I also bought some FJ trail team wheels from TRDparts4U. I'm starting to have second thoughts... I'm thinking I want to keep the sport rims and get some 265/70R17 S/T Maxx tires. I'd love to hear some opinions on that.

Congratulations! Nothing like earning your way to your goals. I personally like the TRD wheels more. I'm looking to pick up some in black also shift to a 265/70/R. Best wishes!

    Thanks goblue82,

It's a tough decision. I'm leaning towards keeping the stockers more and more. My FJ trail teams might pop up in the for sale section soon.

Congrats on the new truck and best color IMO :) I love the trail teams wheels in black, not so sure if the alloy ones would add enough for me, but its YOUR truck, do what you feel is right

Looks great man! I would get some 255/80r17 st maxx instead. they will fit with no issues and you will still have the height of a 33! That size tire looks killer

I'm not opposed to that at all. I would've gone with 255/85R16 if I keep the FJ's. My next concern with that, is speedo/odometer issues. Not a huge performance issue, but I'm wanting to maintain the accuracy of those without additional parts. (Such as the hypertext thingy). I'm still reading threads on here about small tire size increases and having the speedo actually read more accurate compared to gps. But yes, I like the tall and skinnies a lot.

The odometer/speedo issue is why I've "settled" on the 265/70R17 as originally stated.

Been awhile since I've been able to add to this thread. After some back and forth and some feeler FS threads, I decided to keep my fj wheels and mounted some 265/75/16 ST Maxx tires on it. Stock tires are sold but the 17's are up for sale. Lots of initial interest but no commitments yet. Let me know! Pics below.

Now I just need to install my lift!

Added the husky mudflaps last week. Really love the look. Much better ground clearance and they fit really well.

I put them on there rear as well. Just didn't take pics. They aren't much shorter. But I wanted them to match.
