I'm moving from colorado to South Carolina i have a 2006 longbed quad cab with the 4.0. would i be able to tow a 70 challenger (3400lbs) on a trailer that distance. i plan on installing an aftermarket transmission cooler and keeping it in 4th with average speeds of 70mph. what else should i be doing to prevent problems?

I'd get a tranny flush, oil change, tire rotation, spin balance, and equally aired up tires. If you can afford It something like an add a leaf, helper spring, or high pressure bump stop. Park the car on the trailer nose first. If you put the engine in the back of the trailer axles, it will sway. The truck can handle the weight, make sure the hitch can. Have it inspected at u-haul if you need to. I've seen lighter loads lost with bigger trucks cuz of cheap hitches towing more than rated to.

Nah your good to go other than last min tire rotation, bal, air up. If you go over 3500-4000 lbs get a trailer brake controller if you don't have one already, or make sure trailer has surge brakes.

Flatbed double axles do. Single axle car dollies don't. They might not rent to you, they have strict policies. I needed my 3/4 ton to tow a vw golf. Said half ton was to small.

Ask first. I know a few who have gotten trailers from rookie cashiers. But be warned.

Budget rents car trailers as well, might as well check and see what they would charge you. As for adding a trans cooler if you have a factory hitch you already have a trans cooler as standard equipment.

IMO, seems a bit fast to be towing that weight. I tow at 65 on the speedo, which is about 63mph. Better stopping, better gas mileage, and lower rpm's. Your call, good luck. Be safe.

It's interesting in Michigan. Single axle is limited to 70 but anything dual axle is automatically 55.
