Once you decide with what to do in the front, the 3leaf progressive AAL is a good way to get 1.5" more outback with a good ride at reasonable cost. Icon/wheelers/Toytec all sell the same one under different branding.

As for the airbags, car-fax will provide that information as well as potentially more accident info. I'd definitely get a car-fax of a salvage vehicle to get as much info as possible.
