Since the 2016s came out I've been looking hard at trading "up." However, for what its worth, I've decided to keep my 2012. Its paid for, its fine and I don't see any major reasons to get into 2016. The big thing for me is extra room in the back seat of the double cab...not there yet.

I hope so, more legroom won't be an option until the 3.5 gen in 2019, when Mike Swears son is in charge of retaining the 2016's seat belt bracket from the '05.

There needs to be significant improvements for me to get into a new one. Yeah they look nice but it just feels like an incremental step.

Indeed. Still love the one I have. Been a great vehicle.

It's more like a proper refresh. The cab and chassis is exactly the same. Different sheet metal and interior bits but it's the same truck.

Yeah, then there's that whole drivetrain thing people keep mentioning, with the engine, transmission, and differentials.

The axles are the same too. Engine and transmission are different but that's no surprise. The big 3 change those up without even significantly refreshing sheet metal.

The differentials switched from 3.73s and 4.11s to 3.91s and 4.3s. Secondly, the difference is not only V6/I4. It is AT/MT as well. I'm not calling it a from scratch reboot, just adding that it is not just a gen 2 with new metal.

I think the new dual climate control is totally worth trading up. Now the wifey can keep her side warm and I can keep my side freezing.

I wish it was offered on SR5 models!

Yeah TRD and up only. 3rd gen TRD models have a little more to offer than 2nd gen TRD models. If I bought a second gen in the future I would build it from SR5. If 3rd gen, TRD.
