Really you have to post that here? You know it's called Tacomaworld right? Plus why compare f150 to Tacoma? F150 is full size truck and Tacoma is not.

Price. Toyota started asking full size money for a value engineered Tacoma and opened themselves up to new cross shopping.

Thank gawd it is legal for those fellas next door to get married now. Maybe they'll won't bitch so much anymore.

..or what lifestyle choice were you talking about? :D

Well, given that Toyota is what is mostly sold over there...

...though they are willing to import. :D

Hmm. I guess the fact that Ford has to discount its trucks to sell them to the point of mid size market should hint the answer to the question. And the way they hold their value over time too... But yeah, there are "no problems with quality" according to two or three people posting over and over again... Market is always wrong, apparently.. Whatever.

Here is a link to JD Power dependability study which rather well explains the pricing of the Ford products..

    http://www.jdpower.com/ratings/study/Vehicle-Dependability-Study-(VDS)-by-Make/626ENG

And no, "this is their sales model" is not an explanation, but rather BS.

Still thinking about either a DCLB TRDOR or a F150 based on my projected use, went by the local Ford dealer today to look at the F150s. Drove a Lariat Super Crew w/5.5 ft. bed and the 5.0L V8. All I can say is wow! That truck was awesome. I can't believe how much room is in the back seat, the fit and finish were outstanding, and the truck handled and drove like a smaller truck through the crowded streets of Honolulu. As an Army Infantryman, I can live with spartan conditions, so I don't necessarily need a lot of bells and whistles on a truck, but when I climbed in the cab and sat on the leather seats on a 90 degree afternoon in a pair of shorts, it didn't take long to appreciate the seat coolers. I also like how the back up camera displayed a curved trajectory as you turned. Just a lot of smart touches that showed some thought. I have always leaned towards Toyotas, but I was very impressed by the Ford. Concerning reliability, still talk to every F150 owner I can find, and have yet to find an unhappy owner here on Oahu. Looking forward to going back and driving the Ecoboost engines, as well as hoping Toyota improves the gas mileage on the Tundra so I can consider that again. Right now, the small payload on the Tacoma and the crappy MPG have me leaning towards the F150.

@MikeD72, not sure why you say to get a Tacoma "if you don't want a huge truck and plan on off-roading." I have driven a 2nd GEN DCLB and then the F150 today. There is not much difference in the wheelbase between the DCLB and the Ford, and I certainly wouldn't describe the F150 Super Crew with the 5.5 ft bed as a "huge truck" particularly in how it drives. Sure, it is a little wider, but it felt WAY more spacious in the cabin, but the nice thing was it didn't drive that way. Also, I don't think it's fair to say an F150 4x4 can't off road. Maybe not rock climb, and probably not as well or as agile as a stock TRDOR in most situations, but all the people I have spoken with that have used F150s off road for hunting, camping, etc., have described it as very capable.

The OP is trying to decide, as I am, which fits his needs better, the DCLB or the F150. Not sure what your experience with the F150 is, but your post directly contradicts what I have experienced.

And as for the Tundra, which I am (or was) also considering, I just can't get past the absolutely abysmal gas mileage. It may not be an issue right now with gas prices so low, but I remember watching the needle on my gas gauge move as I drove my 2002 Jeep Wrangler back when prices were $4 a gallon, and it was not a feeling I want to have again. As a longtime Toyota fan, who really wants to find a reason to buy a Toyota, I am disappointed that they have not kept pace with Ford with respect to building more fuel efficient engines, and that goes for the new Tacoma as well. I can haul or tow twice as much, and get get the same or better gas mileage in a full size truck? Really, Toyota?

Having said all that, still looking forward to seeing a 2016 TRD OR DCLB in person soon. I'm not quite ready to quit on Toyota yet.

I take "studies" with a grain of salt, and go to talk to people who actually own them. I have a lot of dirt bike buddies who have Fords, no major complaints. Kinda the same with the Dodge and Chevy guys.

In all reality, everything is pretty good, nothing is perfect...it has more how you treat and maintain the vehicle than anything.

Sure there are gonna be a few lemons out there, they make 1000's upon 1000's of these things....couple few out of those 1000's are gonna be built at Beer:30. ;) :D

LOL. Ford sells ~750,000 F-Series truck each year, and making around $13,000 profit per vehicle sold. The domestic truck market is highly competitive. Dodge, GM, and Ford know how to play the game and the trucks drive their bottom line. So, sure it's BS.

lol I know it's personal opinion, but to me the front end looks like it's from a mini van. Pretty ugly truck in my books. Based on style alone I'd put any of the big 3 in line ahead of it... In particular GMC... But even an F150 or Ram looks better than a tundra.

The rule of thumb used for domestics in most profit articles is $10,000 per vehicle. This includes the Tahoe/Yukon family when talking GM.

.......................I dont have a dog in the hunt at this time, however I have owned my share of Toyotas, starting with an 85 xtra cab 4x4 pickup,06 DCLB Tacoma 4x4,a 2010 DC TRD 4x4 Tundra, a2012 DCSB TRD 4x4 Tacoma and now a 2013 Crewmax LTD TRD Tundra.Have had a few Fords also, that being said I dont necessarily agree with Fords being cheaper,Tundra gas mileage sucks etc....The Tundras I have owned get combined mpg of a little over 15, hwy avg is 17...when I bought the latest Tundra I was initially in the market for a F150 4 door 4X4 with ecoboost....after much wheeling and dealing I bought the Tundra for 2500 less out the door than the F150......I would have been happy either way but am glad I didnt wait for the styling change for the 2014 Tundra...dont think there is much difference in combined mpg in the full size trucks. The Tacomas I had got 1.5 mpg better combined than the Tundras I have driven...Back to the Tacomas my reaction to the 2016 pics was OMG what a FUGLY truck....after seeing one in person I no longer have that opinion...Do like the looks..
