Prepare to catch heat from fans of a certain team that went 50 years without a WS trophy (all while having some of the greatest players of all time) before hitting a stretch of dumb luck and winning three.

That is old school baseball and the way it should be played by Utley.
Look at highlights from 40 plus years ago. Watch Bob Gibson pitch... Wow he was impressive.
America is breeding a generation of pansies! Little league baseball has two bases at first now to prevent 'injuries'... Hey America MAN UP!
Look at the NFL and many 'roughing the passer' flags when a defenders hand glances off the QBs helmet, it's become pathetic.

While I agree with the pansies comment, these rules are in effect because we have guys like Steve Gleason. NFL not mlb, I know. But had Utley hit Tejada higher, he could have shattered his hip and he could have ruined his baseball career. All possibilities. We need rules to keep players from getting seriously hurt. I love the 'old school' style of play but when it comes to players health and life after baseball, there definitely needs to be rules to protect them. Utley, as a second baseman, should have known better.

Sour grapes. While one Championship might possibly be attributed to dumb luck, two would not, and three most certainly would not. That was just a dumb observation.

Cubs brought the bats last! Nice to finally see Rizzo and Bryant heat up. I just hope they continue today and finish of the Redbirds. Let's go cubs!

Dickey was great in Game 4 - can't wait for wednesday!

Stroman's game 2 was great, however, the umping was the worst i have seen in decades. Texas was handed that game by the home plate ump.
    Still excited, Rangers fan? :)

Umping in game 2 was off-the-charts awful, or maybe it wasn't, because we don't play baseball in canada and don't understand... LOL

Baseball is huge in Canada. The problem is travel distances and across border travel which limits the amount of quality high level adult leagues up here. I'm not sure why Americans get so butthurt about that. Honestly, the USA is getting weaker every day at what they like to call their national past time. I'd say most of Latin America is far more involved at the community level in local ball then the USA is at this point and that trend is not good for the average US player. Football is the new American game and baseball is suffering for it.

As for the Jays I think the Rangers could be in trouble. When a team come back on you like the Jays, well, that doesn't speak well to your ability to handle the tough games.

The umping against the Jays is nothing new. Even the commenters for the Rangers talked briefly about how the plate seems smaller for the Jays when they watch the games at the Skydome. The league doesn't like the Jays for whatever reason. Just look at the rulings they've had on suspensions this year too. Their batters get beaned twice, clearly intentionally, by KC after they laid a few respectable beat downs on them and then the Jays get the suspensions? WTF?

The question is why are Canadians so butthurt by some dingbat talking head like Harold Reynolds? A slightly above average infielder. Who cares.

The problem with the USA is not just baseball. It's all competitive sports. Stinking 'participation' trophies for everyone. Ooo ooo, it's not fair that Little Johnny doesn't get a trophy. Too bad. Practice, get better, get a trophy. But parents are being told that competition is not good for children. PC BS.

Meh, he can say whatever he wants. It's obvious he doesn't get out much or took to many blows to the head as an infielder. You forget that the world has that stigma about basically every other sport other than hockey in relation to Canadians. At this point getting worked up over some minor celebrity announcer in Texas perpetuating a stereotype would be silly.

We are upset because we have to watch the pathetic american broadcast of the game. The Sportsnet broadcast team is so, so much better. What happened to the pitch tracker? How many times do i have to watch the Ranger's Manager make funny faces?

They didn't let the Jays open up the dome. I read, because Manfred was worried about "wind" - but they don't make the Cubs/ChiSox build a dome??

    I can't wait for tomorrow's game.

They couldn't even make the playoffs two years in a row. They were never the most talented team in the NL in years they won, dumb luck and some good pitching.

It's extremely 2010-Giants-fan of you to call out the Dodgers for going 26 years without a WS. It took the Giants twice that long to win one in California. Any Giants fan who has been a fan for more than 5 years would be humble about the recent success.

Sour grapes? How? My team beat the Giants in the WS. How many years was that before you started watching the Giants?

Whose butthurt now? The Giants have won three in 6 years. They are, read this closely, now, PREPARING, for another run next year. Once again, you have no idea whatsoever about my fan participation. How long, and how dedicated. I'm ordinarily quite humble about my team. But for you, I make an exception. You don't make it to the WS three out of five years on dumb luck, so your ignorance is showing quite glaringly. Counting this year, you should know that they had major injuries in the three off years of this current run, so spare me the BS. As for their history in SF, sadly, they just didn't have the ownership stability that the O'Malleys gave LA. I have no idea who your team is, nor do I care. And I've probably been a Giant fan for longer than you've been on the planet. Though, given your remarks, that might not be very long.

Most of the TV commentators are terrible. What sucks even more is that you can't even mute the TV and listen to your home town radio guys because they delay the video broadcast.

The Jays broadcast team is very good. I recommend you try streaming the Fan radio network out of Canada if you want to hear the next Blue Jays game.

I knew it was you, Ster. But since a couple people in this thread decided to pile on in our exchange I thought I'd include them.

Question; South of Cowtown. Would that be Calgary you are referring?
