    That is correct. Short bed used to have holes, but they're gone now too, but I have two or three sets of short bed caps with holes leftover.

    Any hardware store will have something that will work.

    It needs to be 1/16" thick.

    People complained about the holes, so I dropped them.

    When I measured the long bed, I never got measurements of the holes, so I wouldn't be able to do it.
