Do these threads match up or did you have to mod it?

I used a taped up Crescent Wrench as a slide hammer and holding the antenna in one hand used the wrench to knock the ball off the end.
I cut 4 inches off and tapped the ball end back on with a little crazy glue. No painting required.
It now is just clears the height of my lowest section of garage door and is one inch taller than my ARE MX shell so I have a gauge for clearing other places if needed.
This was my first modification to the new Pre-runner.

thanks for the input guys! Decided to go cheap and got one for 10 bucks on ebay, if the threads don't fit, then I may cut the oem by 5 or so inches and reattach the ball.

Question on the stubby... Is it car wash friendly? Where did you buy yours. I lost one at the wash... bought a cheap stubby one from pep boys and the reception stunk

Found mine at autozone for $12. No mods required - screw the old one off, and screw the new one on.

I just took some wire cutters and cut off about 4 inches. I re-painted the whole antenna gloss black.

I get the same reception I always had before. I was surprised!
