Man... there just wasn't time for photography. I was in my Z71 pulling about a 2000 pound flatbed trailer, loaded with 8 rolls of hay weighing about 2000 pound each. On a trailer hitch. Not a fifth wheel. Down a hill. On a paved two lane road. On a bridge. With a semi followed by several cars in the oncoming lane of traffic. Coming down the hill the front tires of the truck ceased to make adequate contact with the pavement to make steering effective. The trailer fishtailed twice and the steering became effective again immediately. The load was so big I couldn't see behind me using my mirrors. All I could see were the first two of those 1 ton rolls of hay. About 1/8 of a mile down the road I figured out why I regained control of truck/load. I had just dumped two of the rolls onto the bridge when I fishtailed those two times. We offloaded the 6 rolls of hay at the ranch and went back to the bridge and that's when we met the DOT and Deputies. And the backed up traffic. They asked me what I wanted to do with the hay on the bridge and I asked if they could just follow me to my ranch with the hay on the front end loader they had so graciously brought with them. It would require them making two trips. They seemed to be in kind of a hurry and said that they just didn't feel good about doing that, so I said just put one load in the bed of the truck and dump the other over the side of the bridge. They seemed to like that idea better. After they put the load of hay into the truck bed we made 8 or 10 more loads consisting of no more than 6 rolls of hay each. The next day I borrowed a 3/4 ton truck with a fifth wheel hitch and a specialized hay trailer. Hauled another 120 rolls from that field without incidence. If you're gonna do the job, you gotta have the tools. All weights are approximate but close. The rest is balls on accurate.

And that's one reason why Z71's name is Bitch Hog.

I've had 450lbs in the back for months at a time and drove normally and a few solid loads. I'm running BFG AT'S. As much as I don't want to, I think I'll take the suggested two trips. I'm on the stock springs. I did finally the the spring recall notice in the mail though.

As the Lowes guy and I were loading the truck, it looked pretty good about 600lbs in and just getting my stuff had been a pain in the ass, so we just finished it off to the full 1,250. The ride home was without incident and I never bottomed out. The tires looked a bit smooshed but I guess I could have put more air in them. It didn't cross my mind.

I had almost 1500 pounds in the bed the first day I owned it. I drove approx 15 miles doing 60 on the freeway. I could definitely tell it was back there. I have made multiple trips with over 1000 pounds and never any issues

Everything was stock and I didn't hit the bump stops

Thanks. I wanted a double cab long bed, but the wife didn't want to pay the extra so we got the access cab instead
