Hey, New here but been driving a Tacoma Prerunner for almost 10 years and love my truck.
Want to buy a new Tacoma trd 4x4. Test drove 1 the other day and love it! Started reading
Posts about transmission and trucks rpms going up. It's absolutely true!Test drove 1 today
and got it out on the Interstate. Normal driving on slight incline or straight down interstate.
Trucks rpms goes up 3.5 to about 4.5 when Excellerating. My truck does not do this. I can
Mash on the gas and truck excellerates without Rpms going way up under 3,000. I want a new Tacoma
love everything about it but this transmission. I really think Toyotas horsepower to torque
Ratio is going to need some work. It will definitely affect fuel economy down the rode. My
06 actually feels like it has just as much horsepower or more. Any input would be great, Thanks

My 2007 had a funny transmission too. IIRC, it took about 6 months before it started acting right.
I've probably read all the same shit; didn't prevent me from buying one today.

I'm bummed out! I really like the truck but the trans may make me wait until it's improved.
I forgot to add truck has a Eco power button and I tried it off and on and I couldn't tell any
Difference in the Rpms. In all honesty I could get used to it but I'm not used to that.

One can never have too many light bars.
Is the eco button the same as Hondas where all it does is change the throttle settings or does it change transmission timing?

Buy the manual tranny. You'll save 1200 bucks too. Problem solved.
