The front runner racks are great. In pretty sure all of the accessories are interchangeable between the FR and the prinsu racks. The FR RTT mounts are clutch I have never had any issues with it back in off or coming loose even after extensive wheeling.

THIS. after my nyloc nuts fell off twice, losing one nut entirely and the other hiding in the cover I got pissed off, pulled all the hinge hardware off and drowned everything in loctite. No idea why, but it appears that a select few of us have this issue constantly while most people have no problem. Maybe we got the batch with the limp handed Chinese dude in the factory that day.

But its an easy fix in the end even if the nuts do disappear. Everything else about mine has kicked ass from day one .

    Indeed I do.

And I love it. Honestly it's a badass rack. It's functional, versatile, relatively affordable considering your other options. Painless installation and stout build. I installed mine about 30+k miles ago, never had a single issue, bolts are tight and rack is sturdy.

As for the flat rack vs basket, I think the flat is far more useful. Not only does it fit the footprint of my Tepui perfectly, it provides endless possibilities for mounting pretty much anything you can think of up there. (Check out @Crom's build, he's got the same rack and he stows all kinds of gear on his) And let's be real, anything you put up there you're going to lash it down nice and tight, so the raised sides of a basket rack are relatively unnecessary.

Regarding the scratched powdercoat from dragging the RTT... This happened to mine, but now I just use a long peice 2x4 when loading and unloading my tent. Saves from chipping the rack.

There's plenty of cool options out there, just sharing my opinions on the setup I have run for years. Good luck with whatever you choose!

...funny idea there, my first copy of the RTT had one set of zippers sewn in upside down plus the toggles were on the right hand side and the loops were on the left hand side. The unit was replaced with great customer service. As to the "nylock" nuts, they might be imitation "nylock". The loctite sounds like a good tweak. I'm thinking there might be a spot where the hinge bolt and nut are tight just enough, and by me adding too much torque, then opening and closing the hinge a few times, I cause the nut to loosen. My left hand hinge has come apart twice now.

If you could attach it to the canopy and on a roof rack on the cab, then I'm sure it would be fine. Probably look a little odd

I've considered that, brian, but I ended up not doing that because I didn't want to have issues with the cab and the bed moving in different directions. The cab is mounted to rubber mounts while the bed is directly on the frame. When your wheeling the cab will be moving around quite a bit more. These movements could put unwanted stress on the cab or the canopy.

That's what I was just thinking after I posted that.. Not only stress on the cab/canopy but I wonder how long the mounting hardware would hold up.

It also depends on your suspension.
I talked to Paul at equipt expedition outfitters about this. Eezi awn makes a cool awning called the swift that doesn't need legs in low wind situations but it is really long (84" + or -). I asked if it would be ok mounted to just my rack on my shell, or just my rack on my cab.

He said that the company president or CEO for Eezi awn has a big awning mounted to just the rack on his shell (about a 56" long rack) and it has endured countless miles of testing accross rough washboard roads in south africa. Paul said he was impressed and wouldn't hesitate to run the same setup if he had a truck.

i think the canopy is flexible enough that the minimal movement between the cab and cap wouldn't really be enough to put anything in a bind. You could also mount your canopy using a bushing of some sort so that it could flex a bit.

Mountain state overland actually mounted their foxwing awning to both the cab and toprac. Not sure if it is still that way but they said due to the little bit of flex in the toprac it worked out well.

FYI, I can now offer the same flatrate shipping on Tepui tents that you get when ordering directly through the website. This means more savings for you.

Hey guys, Just got my Tepui Autana Ruggedized in. Mounting it next week once I get my KBVoodoo HD bars in. Anyone have any experience or suggestions on a place to go with some nice scenery for its inaugural run in Northern Alabama or Georgia?

Will post pics as soon as it's on the truck!

so yours flips off the back instead of the side then? I thought about doing that too...but then you can't really get into your tailgate with the tent open. I was trying to think of a solid and creative way of still going off the side but still getting the full annex room. we'll see if I can come up with something crazy. i'll post it here if it works, lol.

So i asked this a few weeks ago and got a few responses, but now my tent is installed and ive used it i already know exactly where i want to add lighting. Has anyone added permanent lighting inside the tent or in the entry area. Not headlamps or lanterns, but hardwired solutions. Pictures please

This is on my To Do list as well. I was thinking LED strip lights or something like these (I've got 2 pairs laying around)...
