Intake Systems For 3rd Gen

Most evidence out there shows that for the 2nd gens, a CAI does not actually increase performance or MPG at all. I found this out after I purchased one for $350 and put it on my '13.

With this new engine are the experts thinking that a CAI will have any improvement on performance or MPG?

While we are on the subject what about exhaust? Will a catback system help with performance or MPG? I will do an exhaust regardless because of the sound but the CAI seems like a waste of money because our trucks are already designed with their own CAI that optimize performance.

 

Unless there is a programmable ECU of some sort developed, it doesn't seem that any bolt on I/H/E will improve anything but noise on a modern modest displacement vehicle that is well designed from the factory.

The ECU deal is highly unlikely. The performance world gets the attention of talents that can do these things.

 

Take the motor out, throw it off a cliff and stick in a NASCAR motor... You'll have more fun Toyota sure did give us the finger for modding for horsepower on this one.
