I purchased my truck for the same reasons. Don't budge on what you want. Get the extended cab, get the manual, get the 4x4, either engine will do, don't overpay. I spent a year looking for mine and purchased a couple of vehicles along the way that didn't stack up so they got sold. Spend plenty of time on your search, and have a knowledgeable unbiased mechanic to take every truck to that you consider buying. Do not bite on any truck from a dealer just because it's what you want, offer them a little less than what your mechanic says it is worth. If they won't negotiate in that ballpark walk out. Good luck.

The long bed is 6ft, do not get the short bed. This means you need the extended cab. Snugtop makes good products, but they are very expensive. Also, their customer service is appalling. If you got first gen, the snugtop will not come with a wrap-around fiberglass rail. This means that water leaks in the sides, so you will need to do some caulking. Head over to the Show Us Your Snugtop Thread and do some reading.
