I'm at the deslership having 10K service on my 2015.
They have a few '16's on the lot so I do a walk around.
Salesman gets key and I sit in a loaded TRDSport4x4SB.

Sure glad I have not joined the 3rd Gen bashing. Because Daymnnnn this new Tacoma is leaps and bounds over my 2015.

And I may eat my words that the cost will drive me to a full size.

Freaking new Tacoma is super nice. Inside and out.
The sport I peeped has the tonneau cover. It works good and looks sweet.
    The interior is real nice.
Everything I saw is an improvement.
Did not drive one. Didn't want to chance going home with it. L0L.

All y'all that already have a gen3. You are fortunate to have one already.

I can sure see myself in one. Maybe the TRDOR.

    In closing...

    Daymnnnnnnn....

The cost is not driving me to a full size either. The Tacoma looks better and I've had 3 Toyotas and two Fords... my Toyotas have been rock solid. Ford... not so much. IMHO I think the Tacoma Long Bed is perfect size for my needs. Also... I've been doing a lot of thinking about the tech/premium package. Most of it I simply don't need. If I can get a base TRD Sport in the low 30s with a few important addons I'll be more than happy.

I'm sure they're great, but there is no way I'd drop that kind of money on ANY mid-size truck.

I understand. And had the same attitude...until I saw one up close and personal. The new Tacoma feels as large as the old full size trucks that I used to drive back in the '70's-80's-90's.
And it has an awesome stance.

I really like the size of the wheels/tires on the sport, but I prefer the black fender flares on the OR. And I like the black lower bumper "chin" on the OR.

I'm going to keep my powder dry for now.
But I could see myself in a gen3 DCSBTRDOR. I wish I could get leather in the OR. Maybe ToMoCo will offer it in a year or so.

I was looking at a fullsize Dodge but with the options I wanted was all over 40K. There's a reason why Ford has MSRP of 45k but gives a 7k deep discount..... 32,800 for my TRD Sport was fair in todays market. Hell, the wife Jeep Sahara was MSRP 36k.(2014) and have you tried to sit in the back of a 2door Jeep????

You just don't want a midsize truck then, because they are all that price ...and they are midsize now opposed to small, so the price gets closer to fullsize, because you are not getting all the much more in a full size.

I agree that the price is fair, for the most part, for what you are getting....my problem is I wish they didn't make it this big...but yea, the price is gonna go up when you are getting basically a fullsize from 10 years ago, right. people still have the 1st gens in their heads...or the old Hiluxs, when they think Toyota pickup. "yea, ill grab a little 'yota for half the price" ummm, not any more...not when you're getting about 7/8 of a fullsize. haha

    Correct.
I actually like the the new "mid size". I'm not the biggest man of stature and always liked the Dakota/1st gen Tundra size.
The new Tacoma is just about there.
The 7/8ths analogy is an accurate one.

You're right, my next truck will likely be a full-size (more power, more cargo capacity, all that). Until then I plan to drive my Tacoma until the frame gives out.
