Windshield chip repair

If there is a chip in the windshield, and it is repaired using the resin fill method, does it take some time to "heal" or cure?

I had a chip filled, and can still see some of the original chip. This is the first I've had done, so I'm not familiar with the process.

 

They don't completely disappear.

It will never be perfect. The big thing is to fill it in most of the way and prevent it from spreading to a crack

 

I got one within the first week of buying my 2012. Right about eye-level, and about the diameter of a pencil. The insurance company would only go for filling the chip, so while it was strong, it was annoying as hell. It never spread though.
