OEM Oil Filter @ 6k Miles W/ Pics

    I have a question about that oil filter, is that the one that came from factory? or the one from the parts dept... they are 2 different filters... the one from factory, which made Japan costs like me like $12 a pop!! the one made in Thailand costs me like $5! I use the $12 filter for the winter with amsoil, gets too cold here sometimes! :)

    I was just about to ask the same question. I bought a case of 10 of the Thailand filters from a dealership for $30 a while back. They've worked fine for me so far (which means they haven't exploded, fallen off, or been the clear cause of a catastrophic engine failure). I have no plans to switch to a more expensive filter.

    Still, I was curious, is this the one off of a new truck, or one of the Thailand OEM filters?

    drove mine till the oil looked like road tar,cut open filter.......still looks good just very dirty.

    hmmmm,have to cut my filter apart and send a oil sample in after 20'000 miles.i only use amsoil extended life oil and filter good for (they say)25,000 miles.
