I am guessing the Toyota msrp prices quoted here today do not include the delivery(1800?) and stone age air conditioning tax(100).

With the dollar the way it is, I don't expect to see new models going down in price or even staying the same price for a while. :(

I got prices emailed to me by my salesman. Told me that my truck is expected to be at the dealership on friday. Looks like tomorrow the website will be up and ready.

Not quite. No prices on home page and configuration appears broken.

Darn it. Although that's how the US one went too. I think it took a day or two to get the pricing and configurator online.

They don't have the Limited package labeled right. It freaked me out at first because it's labeled "Standard Package" and costs $44,275.

    Ouch! 4.89% at 72 months...

No base double cab. I know that's not a popular option, but it's the one I went for when I bought my truck, and I'd do it again. The cheapest double cab is over 36 grand, when I bought my 2014, the msrp on my truck was sub 30 grand. That's a huge difference in minimum pricing. I'm amazed a base 4x4 double cab isn't even an option, I've seen quite a few around, so I know I'm not the only person who went that route.

The way the "Limited" is classified is different for 2016. In 2015 it was a package option, the "Limited Package", for 2016 "Limited" is an actual grade, not a package any more. So, it is now a 2016 Tacoma, Limited Grade, Standard Package.

Based on the picture in the "Build & Price" tool, it looks like the 4x2 version isn't as tiny as it used to be. It also looks like 6 lug wheels. Is the picture accurate?

Cool. Too bad they don't offer us the double cab version.

I had the opportunity to test drive a DCSB 6MT TRD Sport and a DCLB 6AT TRD Sport back to back tonight, and now I'm stuck in one hell of a dilemma.

I went into the evening positive that I wanted the short bed. I've driven a manual transmission for most of my life, and I vastly prefer the overall size of the SB, for both daily urban navigation and my occasional off road excursions. For the very few times I need to haul something long, I'll use a trailer.

That being said... I preferred the auto. By far. It may just be that I'm "over" manual transmissions, or it may be that the Tacoma manual didn't offer any perceptible advantage over the auto. If anything, acceleration in the auto felt faster, especially with ECT turned on. Also, the manual had a weird power spike at 3500 RPM that felt a lot like turbo lag. But the DCLB is so damn long.

So, I dunno what to do... F**k Toyota Canada for offering the same arbitrary limitations in 3rd gen as it did with 2nd.

Generally speaking, both short and long drove identically, and very smoothly (if not very quickly). The sport suspension feels very well tuned, both on road and on the mild gravel/bumpy mud lots I test drove on. And thanks to the backup camera, parking wasn't an issue (if I could find a long enough sport for the DCLB).

The problem I did have, as others here have already said, is that the snout really is goddamned huge. It would take some time to feel comfortable with where the front of the truck is while parking, way more so than the back. If I do buy one, the first thing I'll do is see if any SR5 owners want to trade their standard hood for the scoop. Might help.

Interior was great. Nothing groundbreaking design wise, but clean, ergonomic, and thankfully devoid of millions of buttons. (Another aside: the Toyota Canada configurator says the DCLB TRD doesn't have dual zone climate control but it does). More so than the rest of the vehicle, the interior feels like a significant upgrade from 2nd gen. Also, I was amazed that the double cab has more rear leg room than our 2014 Mazda CX-5. I test fit our rear-facing Diono car seat on the rear passenger seat, and there was plenty of leg room to spare for the front passenger.

That's all I've got for now. Sigh.

If you're fine with the long box and prefer the auto, by far, then I would say you've got your answer.
