Fuel friendly turbo setup on 5vz

    Can you have a turbo setup on the 5vz where premium fuel isnt required or where you can keep stock fuel economy or even increase it but still have some good gains in power?

    If I did turbo my 5vz Im not looking for a ton of power but maybe in the 270-300 hp range. More looking for low end torque and would want the most efficient turbo possible and wasn't think of going crazy on the boost either, maybe between 5-8 pounds.

    So could anyone suggest a setup that could do all these things? Or some of them? Or is it even possible?

    Those numbers you mention all seem to be about what others guys get when throwing on a turbo AND upgrading the fuel system along with tuning. You honestly can't have those numbers with the stock fuel system. Assuming you are talking about crank hp, going to the 270-300 range would be about a 100 hp jump. This is quite a big jump that will require work (fueling and tuning).

    Cruising MPG is not the same as WOT MPG.

    If you upgrade the fuel system, and properly tune it, you can still get good cruising MPG. Plenty of OEM's have turbos and get good MPG. It is all in the tuning.

    Ok what primary injector should I go with, without it being to hard to tune? And what would be the easiest piggyback to tune with. The AEM one?

    Which brand or which size?

    What size are your stock ones? Are they low impedance or high impedance injectors?

    Thanks! And it has a number in there already for fuel rail pressure, does the 5vz have a different number?

    Industry standard is 43.5 psi. I don't know to much about the 5vz though.
