alright guys just trying to do a poll here to figure out what tire I should get.

Background: I wheel on the weekends. Nothing too crazy but got a flat this weekend in my Cooper AT3s with about 20k miles on it. Rock punctured the tire. I need a tire that can handle the snow/ice with ease and can get me wherever I want without having to worry about getting a flat. I don't really care about how loud they are or anything like that. Im going to be getting 285/70/17

If you can comment on why you chose those tires that would be awesome.

I love my ST MAXX but the mtr and duratrac are also good choices although much louder than the st maxx. I would recommend the MTR and ST MAXX because they both have kevlar to help against flats but MTR are more aggressive. Check the threads on each and weight the differences price, weight, road noise, etc and good luck!

Either Goodyear sells Duratracs in other parts of the country that are louder than what they sell here, OR, some of you have VERY delicate hearing. I can HEAR my Duratracs, but they sure aren't LOUD.

Duratrac. "Snowflake" (severe weather) rated for winter with a lot of siping. 10 ply rating (E rated model). More of a combo type tread with AT style blocks in the center and MT style blocks on the outer lugs with side biter lugs on the outer edges. Reasonably quiet without that swamper type noise associated with MT's.
