Alright so the area of the rear strut that takes a 5mm wrench is rounded out and is no longer able to held in place so the strut doesn't spin as I attempt to loosen the lock nut to remove the rear strut. Anyone have any suggestions on getting this thing off?

Spray some pb blaster on the threads. Hammer a larger torx bit socket in stripped Allen socket hole, with with the wrench already on the nut put a ratchet on the socket to hold it still and turn the wrench.

Edit: just looked at the pic again. Looks like you did a number on those threads. Just cut it off as already stated if you replacing them anyway.

I had a similar problem. Hacksaw cured it!

I cut the nut off on mine with a dremel. Got a nice slice down the side of the nut, then used a big ass screwdriver to pry it apart and slid the washers right off.

You can also get a tool that breaks the nut.

I torched my front strut bolt/nut. But cutting would work perfect too.

Not trying to be a dick, but it is always better to know the correct terms.

The rear doesn't have struts, that is a shock absorber.
