Hey everyone! I think it's time to upgrade the tires on my 2015 dcsb prerunner... The stock dunlops are just not doing it for me anymore. Im leaning toward the 235/85 size since I want a bit of a taller more aggressive tire but I don't want to go much wider being a 2.7. I'm having a hard time between the BFG t/a ko2, the Grabber at2 or the toyo open country a/t. Have any of you ran these before in this size and what did you like/dislike about them or would recommend. Also will they fit my 16x8 wheels? The description on them says 6-7.5inch wide wheels. I do mostly highway driving with camping/fishing trips pretty often in the woods but I would prefer one that handles the best on road since that is the bulk of my driving. Thanks!image.jpg

Check this thread out, lots of good info and experiences.

I recently went 235/85-16 on my 2.7. I like the peace of mind offroad that the tires are much stronger than the factory Dunlops. When I put them on I did not notice any performance loss. The truck feels the same acceleration and braking wise. Mileage did not change at all that I have noticed. The speedo actually seems more accurate now. When I come up to one of those speed signs that gives you a readout of your current speed, it matches exactly with the speedo. Not the most scientific, but it's really close anyway.

I went with the Toyo Open Country ATii. Got a good deal with free shipping from TreadDepot.com. They are quiet on road and seem to offer great traction offroad. I recently took a trip out west for some off road action and they performed very well. I look forward to testing them in the snow around home. They are a pretty light tire at around 43lbs, I think. The Generals are heavy, around 52lbs, but on the flip side they are probably a very robust tire, taking offroad abuse.

If you don't offroad very much, maybe consider getting as light a tire as possible to lessen any impact on performance. Hercules is a little known company but they offer a tire called the Terra Trac AT or something that is only around 40lbs. The lightest I've seen in that size.

Also check this out, an article explaining how skinny tires can often have an advantage over wide tires off the pavement.
