So, Im looking for a car for work. The car is basically my office, I will not necessarily be putting crazy miles on it per day, maybe 100 miles per day on average. I have been looking at the 07ish Audi A8L and Audi A6 both over 100K miles(under $15K). Does anyone have any experience with these two vehicles/engines? I am just starting my research so any input will be nice. I will start looking on Audi forums tonight.

PS I will not be selling the Tacoma

    ...too much shit to list.
    Audi's are great...with a factory warranty.
After just putting in new transmissions in both an A6 allroad and an A8L in the last 6 months...I would strongly advise to stay the fuck away from Audi's over 100k. And transmission swap means engine pull. And don't forget the front bumper. I feel like you have to remove the fucking bumper to do any maintenance on an Audi. That's why they are always so cheap resell. Nobody maintains them.

Audi (and several VW group manufactures) make some cool products IMO. Including the A8, A8L, S, R & RS products.

A few buds I work with use A8s as their DDs.

As cool as they are tho( and not with Audi but BMW & VW) my experience is German = $$ for upkeep in both routune & non-routine maintenance & reliability is only average at best.

My only experience is that I recently chatted with an owner of an A8 who loved it until the warranty expired. He said it cost him $1G every time he brings it in for service.

I also work with a guy whose wife drives, I think, an A4. She loves it, he hates it, 'cause he does the work on it himself and it's a nightmare.

One can never have too many light bars.
For a reliable large luxury car with over 100k on the clock I would stick with Lexus.

We'll I'd have to agree that the best time to own an Audi is when it's under warranty.

I just recently came from an A4 and I have never seen so many issues arise out of nowhere on a vehicle. The excess oil consumption on my a4 was absurd, 5 quarts of synthetic wouldn't even last me 3,000 miles before I had to add additional oil (which was 1 quart per 1,000 miles). The interior trim began peeling here an there when the vehicle had only 40,000 miles. One of the fans below the hood somehow came loose however it still worked; every time I would turn it would begin to click due to becoming unbalanced, but when I started driving straight again it would stop clicking and line itself out. One day the clicking noise stopped entirely even though the fan was still loose.

Fun and beautiful car to drive around but it was one headache after another despite me taking meticulous care of it. Made me miss my taco, and so here I am again
