    Hello,
    I have a 2013 trd sport 4x4.
My drivers side heater dash vent always has air flow even when selector is set on floor or windshield/defrost. Very annoying haveing heat blowing in your face all the time.
The selector switch works (blows on the floor when selected and windshield when defrost is selected) but always coming out of drivers side dash vent.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any ideas on how to fix? I'm not sure how the duct work is controled, cable or elec. motor?

    Thanks

the very outside dash vents are blowing to defrost side windows, just like about every car on the road. The vents are suppose to blow around you to circulate the air inside for optimum hvac efficiency, not directly at you.

thanks for the reply, but either I didn't explain my problem correctly or you misunderstood what I was saying.

The vent beside the gauges to the left of the steering wheel is always blowing air. Niether the one on the right side or the middle vent are blowing. For now I just shut the louvers but a lot of heat still gets out.

Also, my buddies 2012 Tacoma does not always have flow always coming out of that vent as u said.

It most likely is a flapper in the ductwork that controls the flow to that vent but I'm not sure, just want to see what you guys have to say.

    Thanks

I pressed and held the circulation button (button with the pic of a car with the half circle arrow) I hope that was it. It did not work.

    Thanks for trying.

on defrost/windshield, IT DOES BLOW OUT THE VERY OUTSIDE DASH SIDE VENTS, how else would it defrost/defog the sides? It also blows there when on the floor, just not as much.
TURN THE VENT SO IT DOESN"T BLOW ON YOU, problem solved

when switched to the window defrost only, there is no way to turn it off. switch it to the one that has the arrow pointing to the floor and the defrost picture, then hold the recirc button for 5 seconds. reminder, this will be reset every time you turn it on.

I understood what you were saying, read the owners manual. If the right side isn't blowing air, it is broke. The outside dash vents blow for every setting other then OFF

Both outside face vents are supposed to blow air ALL THE TIME regardless of the HVAC settings. Toyota provides a separate means for shutting off those vents manually if you don't want the air coming out them. Been this way for at least the last 30 years.

Gotta love the people that ask questions, but don't like the answers. Then swear you are wrong and they suddenly know the answer to their concern.

If the the truck isn't blowing, you could correct it by profusely inhaling the nearest pole.

Is there a separate means OTHER than shutting the louvre with your finger?

Personally to me it is annoying when I select floor for heat yet have heat coming out the side vents by the window to then have to manually shut the louvre in the morning but then mid day having to remember to open the sides so not all the cool air is coming out the two middle vents - on either side of the radio.
