Trying to plan a trip to grand canyon,(getting older need to see some of merica :oldglory:before its too late).
Can a novice off roader with a unlocked sport run this trail and not thrash it as its my first new truck, dents and brush scratches are my main concern.
oh yeah and making it there and home thanks.:tumbleweed:
hoping for some passable mud holes to make arizona pictures look:mudding:awesome.

It has been years since I made the trip. As I recall, you should have no problems. As for brush scratches--I do not remember. I figure that is part of owning and using a 4wd. I remember someone years ago suggesting a heavy coat of wax, not buffed, for brush scratch prevention.

Yeah, it's been a long time for me. It's not a technical trail, but it could be rutted. I lean against dirt trails like this for non-4x4 (rocks I can care less) because you may tear it up or be tempted to go around an obstacle, and this is an absolutely beautiful trail that deserves care. But that's just my hardbrained opinion. The trail may be closed for the season though, check on that.

No thrashing required when I was there in march, could even get a passenger car there (probably). Also, firepointis a good spot that you can get out to too (was there in March as well) Firepoint Rd was actually in worse shape went through a 3' "puddle" and it spun my spare tire off the underbelly mount. Firepoint is technically in the park though and you're not allowed to camp there but theres a fire ring so we camped anyhow.

Also, if it's dry, make sure and drive down "house Valley rock rd". But ONLY if it's dry. There's so rad off roads along the drive and you can plot a route out to the edge of the vermillion cliffs
