A quick update. I used loctite 545 on all of it, except the hydraulic fittings.

I'm thinking of two OB2 compressors with an air manifold, no tank right now. That would put out somewhere between 7 and 8.5CFM.

Neat idea. I have some ideas that would make that system better. There have been homemade 4 tire fillup rigs posted, maybe in other threads though.

    Hi everyone,
I've been reading all the oba threads I can find, but haven't found any that locate an air tank under the bed on a stock truck and leaving the spare tire in place. It looked like post #447 by shreddindan did by locating closest to the bumper, but does the rod that drops the spare fit? It seems like the tank would block it. Thanks for any help, great info here!

it looks like he has his tank mounted more towards the passenger side of the bumper vice being centered. You can see the hole for the spare tire in the last picture

Thanks velillen! I just measured inside of axle to edge of hole for rod and it's only about 16"....so back to the drawing board. I might just have to go with a smaller tank; although, I did see a tank mounted parallel to the exhaust by the converter. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with compressed air by heat though. Any other ideas are much appreciated.

Is that mine you're talking about? My tank is up where the cubby was, shouldn't get hot up there.

It might hav been, but have lost track of the posts...need to start taking notes! I just measured under there though too and I can't find any length longer than 16" without obstructions. What size tank did you have?

    Thanks for your help.

Years ago (in an '84 4runner), I installed a 2.5 gallon tank in front of my spare tire, for the OBA system. There is a similar empty space in my Tacoma. Check it out.

I just analyzed that space under the truck from when I can tell it appears I could fit a 3 gallon under the bed sides by the Cubbies that will fit by the rear shackle hangers

It is possible to fit the 37 inch 2 gallon slim tanks on the bed sides above the wheel wells. I didn't really want to run multiple tanks for my setup.

I have a 1.5 gallon tank mounted on the right side of the bed just above the shackles. it was a tight fit. its bolted to the bed and i got a 90* metal bracket from home depot that is bouted right behind the rear brake light and secures to the tank. my compressor is mounted also behind hte rear brake light. i can take a picture of it if anyone interested.

ive been thinking about moving the air tank and compressor. I liked Sandman614's idea of where he mounted his tank; maye have to relocate it there and maybe above the tank mount the compressor.
