So...I got on it after work last night, and it fixed the horn problem right away. I will advise you though based on my mistakes: When I finished, I went to hook up the battery, and as soon as I touched the lead to the positive terminal, the horn started honking. Going back through, I found that I had bent the top two terminals of the little white 4-pin connector on the top of the spiral cable while plugging it back in - VERY easy to do - Be Careful! I bent them back up (after two tries...), and no more problems with the horn....
Checking everything out, I started it up and turned on the radio, and found it scanning channels endlessly. You probably guessed it; I bent a couple of pins in the white 10-pin connector, right next to the horn connector, which carries the radio control to the steering wheel. Took it all apart AGAIN, and straightened them all out. Turned a 1/2hr. job into and hour one.
I wouldn't have guessed they were so easy to bend, but they are. The connectors should very easily, and with very light pressure, snap back into place. If they don't, one or more pins are probably bent. I read another guy having problems with the yellow connector at the bottom of the spiral cable, so apparently there's quite a bit of room for error just plugging things back in. At least the problems are easily identified, and really, this is a pretty mundane replacement otherwise.
