My first Tacoma was back in the early 80s, it was a Turbo 4 cyl. Great truck, pretty much a utility vehicle. No air, no power nothing. But it was quick for a 4 cyl. Later on when I got a 6 cyl. I remember saying my turbo 4 cyl was faster. I wished I would have kept it now.

Not biased at all in the second gen section! Place the same poll in the gen 3 section and see what happens:D

Here is your winner. The gen 3 guys aren't venturing over this direction. Too much excitement in the gen 3 section right now.

Yea, a lot of people would see the little red Turbo sticker on the tailgate and ask me if it was really a turbo or if I just put the sticker on. LOL Nope it's the real deal.

They have way too many problems with brand new trucks. 3gen section is almost like Dodge RAM forum at this point. Heck they even have a recall in first month.

Wise decision on the '15. I went out and bought a '15 as soon as I saw the '16, its front end, and its 100% unproven drivetrain.

The '15 dominated the mid-sized truck market from '05-'15 without even having to make any major updates. That's what I call not fixing something that's not broken.

Congratulations, brother! I'm driving around with a smile on my face as the '16 guys are already dealing with their first recall! :-D

Yeah the new drive train is complete crap, definitely not build like 2005-2015 Trucks.
Offroading with 2016 Trucks will be crazy, unless people wants to buy new engines often.
Look how Toyota designed oil pans on new truck. Its designed like a car, and not to go on steep inclines. With out changing oil pan these folks risks major engine failures. I wonder if thats the problem causing all those oil pressure issues.

Liking my 2015 Taco even more after visiting the gen 3 forum. The new 2016 V6's have the same cartridge type oil filters that are on the newer Camry's. It is a little harder to change and I always make a little mess changing them. Also I read that the front skid plate has to be removed to get to the oil filter.

This was pretty much how I felt as well. I actually like the look of both 2nd and 3rd gens but decided to go the proven route and also got a decent discount along with incentives for a 2015. The dealers around here were taking pre orders at the time and didn't even have pricing yet during the summer. I thought about waiting but didn't want to miss out while there was still a good selection of 15's to be had. Besides I'm hesitant to buy the first year of a significant redesign. I'm curious as to what was de contented from the 2014-2015 trucks? A previous post mentioned something about this.

You bought the 2015 which I passed on to get the 2016 instead. Much better truck than the 2011 I traded which I thought was great but the 2016 is much better. You should have waited!

I am also curious about this. One thing I am glad that they added is the touch screen radio in these years so I can add a backup cam.

Once I put some miles on the 3.5. I no longer want a 4.0!

When you drive the 3.5 it learns and comes alive looking for a 4.0 to flog!

What are these many issues specifically? Got a list as I am too old and lazy to look it up.

The only recall is for a handful of screws / bolts on the dash I think. Minor minor issue at best on a few trucks.

For many years the Toyota Trucks had regular oil pans just like a car and they didn't have issues then...

After seeing the 2016 in SR trim, I bought a basic 2015 Toyota Tacoma Base 4x4 Access Cab with a 5 speed manual for $22.5, plus tax, title and license. That's $700 under the published invoice. For the next few months, at least, I doubt that many dealers will offer invoice pricing on a 2016.

By the way, this is what the 2016 Tacoma looks like as basic model no. 7513 trim.

    16Tacoma2.jpg

I could live with it, but I prefer the look of my 2015.

Ha Ha.....you must have a good back, no kids and the belief they would still not start at $25k and quickly escalate to $35k with any options worth having. You could play all your old cassettes you were going to throw away and wonder why your left leg falls asleep on trips more then ten miles. I hope never get to see or ride in my old one again. They all got much better with each gen. ;-)))

Things weren't so much removed, but swapped around or reiterated in some new manner instead. Only time something was apparently removed was 2014's did not get the fancy mirror with backup cam and temp/compass as I understand. 2013's got snubbed on satellite radio, only to be brought back in 2014 models. Either 2014 or 15 or both no longer have the clock in the hazard light panel, it was replaced by a shitty clock display on the touch screen itself.

And of note touch screens were started in the 2012 as a JBL only option I believe, then became standard for TRD models in 2013, and then more standard in 14/15's.

Bed cubby holes were removed starting either end of 2012 or beginning of 2013 if I recall, some 2013's have them due to leftover stock from previous years.

If there were any other changes, I'm not aware.
