1st gen side specific rear shocks, need help

    5100's, All Pro 3" Standard leafs, 32" KM 2's
    So I'm in the process of installing All Pro's standard 3" leaf pack and am a bit hung up on what shocks I need to equip. All Pro sells the 9.25" travel Bilsteins for $99 with their 3" lift kit. I was able to find them cheaper elsewhere and ordered them but after a bit of reading I've seen a few mentions of the rear suspension of 1st gens being side specific to account for un-even load. I then noticed the Bilsteins Wheelers sells are as a set with 2 seperate parts #'s but All Pro only sells a single shock for the same application. The wheelers set isn't long enough for the leafs so that's out. Did I order the wrong shocks?

    The side specific Bilsteins shocks have slightly different travel #s, like within a 1/2", but I'm not sure about the valving. All-Pro sells the 9.25" shocks that will work on both sides and are valued for a leaf sprung truck, so you'll be fine!

    Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
    The reason for the slight difference between sides is the added weight of the fuel tank on the drives side. That is why you can get a 1/4 or 1/2" shim to level the truck. You should be fine, especially if you add any weight to the truck.

    I have all pros 3" leafs and 10" travel shocks

    btw i asked all pro what shocks would you send with your springs they suggested 10" travel.. And rear shocks are cheap 230 for double resi or 130 regular for fox

    You say AllPro sells the matching shocks for their springs but you've found some cheaper but now shying away because 1st gens are side specific....shit now I'M lost..:confused::confused:


    OP if you called DSMS & told them how much lift you have, they could've matched you up with 5125's for a great price as well...

    Basically. I had already ordered them before I came across the side specific information though. Just wanted to double check I hadn't made a mistake especially since the shipping on these items seems to take 2 weeks minimum!

    10" travel for 3" lift in rear is too much, 9.0"-9.5" is accurate...

    no idea man had 8.5 before i went 3" in rear so @allpro told me this is the setup they use with 3" in rear when i ordered there springs.

    maybe @YotaDan or @allpro could chime in

    I talked to them recently and they told me they sent the 9.25" with their 3" kit. It looks like the difference in lengths is about an inch at the bottom end and almost 2" at the top. I suppose it comes down whether you prefer more up or down travel.

    Oh damn i think i remember now dont quote me on this lol but i dont think Fox makes that size and the closest is 10" so that is why they recommended 10" for me since i wanted fox

    Yep it performs fine and rides great, so i would say from 9.25-10" would be fine for 3" in back.
