Went from 14.5mpg to 16.5mpg now

It started to get worse and worse gas mileage the past year and it seemed to have bottomed out at 14.5mpg no matter how I drove.

I noticed the hose ends were cracked for the PCV valve on the driver side. The breather hose on the passenger side was also cracked. I got hosed from the dealer for $40 on the breather hose because it has a 90 degree bend and a standard automotive hose wouldn't work.

Pretty much stuck at 16.5mpg after going through 4 tanks.

Just curious - why couldn't you use two pieces of hose and a 90 degree connector instead of being hosed by the dealer ?? Thanks. Curious George.
