i just got off the phone with my dealer and they told me that to paint the rear bumper on my 2015, they would first need to remove the bumper and sandblast the chrome off. He said it's a slick surface so that paint will not stick to it very well if they don't do that. Has anyone had their rear bumper chrome just painted over? Any issues? The grill is of course plastic with a slick chrome surface as well. Any recommendations on getting by that painted? I would just guess that plastic would need to be sanded and that would be good enough? TIA.

I've researched this and everyone says you have to remove the chrome to do it right. If you're going to plasti dip you can give it a try over the chrome, but to use actual paint everyone says to remove chrome first.

You can paint over chrome if prepped correctly.
