I was eagerly awaiting the 2016 Tacomas, but now that they've arrived, I realized I can't buy the truck I want. I can get close, but don't like to compromise.

I want a double cab long bed with a manual transmission. I'd prefer 4x4, but I'd compromise on that. Is it possible to get that configuration on a 2nd generation Tacoma?

No. The DCLB is auto only.

Prove to me that it is problematic. I am running urd sc stage 3 set-up and have absolutely zero issues with my transmission. Just do a manual trans swap.

There are numerous threads on here with people having issues with the 6-speed. Throw out bearings and shuddering is the main complaints.

The OP has stated in other threads that since he couldn't get a 16 the way he wanted, a 15 was an option.

I'm a big fan of the manual trans. That said, I'd compromise on the transmission way before 4x4. The auto trans in these trucks has a great reputation.

TOB is a wear item, and shutter is just low engine rpm load surge. Sounds like too high of gear, with too low rpm. Operator error. Once again, nothing wrong with trans.

2009 6 speed - ZERO problems at 59,000 miles. Would prefer a little more OD for 6th gear, but at 21/22 mpg interstate, I'm happy.
