My dad has a 08 single cab 2wd non prerunner. Both of our TPMS light came on the other morning when we had temps dip into the 30s. He just got his acouple months ago, so he called me and said his light came on. I told him to give it a couple of day b/c it was going to warm back up. Mine went out the next afternoon. His was still on so he had a guy look at it. I told him to check the spare b/c mine was the spare last year. He said the guy put like 37 psi in each tire and the light went out. Whats recommended on the door jam I believe he said was 29F/30R. It ended up being the front passenger. He said the ride was rough now so he's gonna lower it back down. Dad said that the light comes on at 29 psi. I told him I would as on TW to see if anybody else has had this problem before.

Problem? That is how it works.

Have him get the tires to the pressures he wants to run. Then follow the procedure in the Owners Manual to reset the TPMS System to that pressure.

    Reset Procedure
    1. Park the vehicle in a safe place and turn the ignition switch to the “LOCK” position.

    2. Adjust the pressure of all installed tires to the specified cold tire inflation pressure level.

    3. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position.

    4. Push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the tire pressure warning light blinks slowly three times.

    5. Leave the system with the ignition switch in “ON” position for a few minutes, and then turn the ignition key to the “LOCK” position.

    Easy.

My light came on the other morning as well. Temp was in the 20's. It turned off a few hours later.

Installed Overhead Compass and Temperature Display along with outside temperature sensor and wiring; LED lights reverse backup; LED license plate lights; Added GTA Bluetooth Audio kit to stock radio for iphone audio; Spare tire steel braided air hose extension connection to rear bumper; Installed new headlights along with new bulbs PIAA H4 XTreme and for fog lights PIAA H10 XTreme bulbs. Installed new hood with "hood-scoop". Installed Predator Side Steps. Replaced front chrome grill with customized color matched (Desert Sand Mica) grill with added TOYOTA lettering (also in matched color), installed and secured tailgate anti-theft devices. Also installed a new external TPMS monitor for all 4 tires.
Tell dad (and you might consider this yourself as well?) to install and attach an external air line to access the spare tire, like this http://www.amazon.com/Wheel-Masters-82286S-Spare-Inflator/dp/B002IUCFIA makes things alot simpler when checking the air pressure and dealing with the TMPS light.

Quick, simple, easy install and cheap mod.

That is what I did on my 08' Tacoma.

Thanks guys. I've never had to use the reset button before so thanks for the directions. Mine has gone off either on its on when it warmed back up and few days later or went off after I put air in them.
