Rattle after 5100 install

Ever since I installed my front 5100's I have a rattle when I hit bumps.
They are set at 2.5". I've checked all of the bolts and they are all snug, but the rattle is driving me crazy.
I wouldn't call it a loud thud or clang, it just sounds like something is rattling. It's not contstant, just when hitting bumps at lower speeds.

Any thoughts?

I'm betting incorrect assembly. Seems like alot of people are coming on here missing washers on the shaft. And allowing it to move freely

Ok I will check it out soon. The washers were my first guess, but unfortunately I think I need to totally disassemble (take off the coils) to see if this is the case and I had to rent the spring compressors first time around so I will have to go back and do that again.

 

No, just grab a screwdriver and tap up under the top hat. There should be a washer and a rubber bushing sandwiched on each side of the top hat. I had a set of oem shocks assembled by a shop that got lazy and didn't put the washers on the inside so I was clunking around before I figured it out. It could also be the coil not sitting right on the shock? IIRC a couple people with 5100s had to adjust the coils. Also make sure the lower coil mount isnt upside down lol

I forgot the washers when I installed my 6112s. It was right there in the diagram, and I missed it. Sheesh.

Easy to do, think most of us have done it or at least not gotten the order right....

 

When i picked my stockers up from the shock I had assemble them, the first thing I noticed was the missing washers and bushings on top, they said they couldn't get them to fit (laziness I come to find out), But they said it should be fine...come to find out a week later when I hit some bumps and my whole front end is bouncing and clunking, the shaft wasn't anchored on anything, so it was poking up through the coil bucket by like 4". So i go back and show it to them, the dumbass receptionist starts getting all uppity when I tell her I had them assemble but I did the install, but then the mechanic is like "shut up, I remember this, we'll fix it for free". And they did.

 

Ok, here's an update on this with pics. I still have the rattle, but I have not torn it all apart. I was hoping someone might spy something in the photos that may be the culprit! Thanks in advance

 

Do me a favor, reach between the coils and feel up under the top hat, you should feel a washer and another rubber bushing
