Hello Tacoma World! I'm new here so take it easy on me. Anyways. I was taking the bed off the other day to install a hitch (don't ask why but that hitch was a pain in the royal arse to put on). As I was taking the bed off, I was careful to use PB blaster but as soon as I started loosening one of the bolts-BOOM-the nut inside broke free. So I had to prop up the bed with peices of wood because the right corner next to the cab was where to broken nut was. So I couldn't take the whole bed off. How in the hell do I fix this? I need to weld it back on but what's the easiest way of getting in there?

Is there room for a cut-off wheel to decapitate the bolt ?

No there isn't. It's buried up in there like no other. I'll post pictures later today.

grind out a slot or use a hole saw to cut a hole on the side of the bed support rail brace that is big enough so you can get a wrench into there to hold the nut

Ok. But would that brace be fine? I use the bed to haul a 450 lb quad. Will it be strong enough after I weld the piece back on? Or do I even have to weld it back on?

if you just cut a slot out of the side just big enough to slide a wrench and nut in it your going to be ok with just that small cutout but if you are really concerned flip the bed, cut a round hole to slip in and weld a threaded sleeve in there to replace the broken nut and not worry about lost strength
