I know lots of tire sizes for 5 lug tacomas have been discussed. I am really wanting a larger tire that looks better, but am concerned with power loss. I am considering either 225/75/15 or 235 70 15. I know the differences aren't great but anyone with these sizes that could comment on power loss, specific tires, etc. would be helpful. I don't want to regear so I will be conservative but hope for improvement in looks. I just wish they had put a better appearing tire on to begin with!

I agree, they should've put better and bigger tires for stock :/
I'm running 235/75r15 with the fat bobs lift. As with power loss, there's some noticeable loss in power, but not much. I am running it with BFG KO all terrain tires, which are a little bit beefier, which may cause power loss (I may be wrong).
Im happy with my 235/75's and may even go bigger, now that I got the lift on it. Again, the power loss is only slightly noticeable, but if you really do not want to sacrifice power with appearance, stick with smaller tires. I hope this helps and good luck!

I would like to put a lift on, but funds won't permit. Glad to hear power loss with 235 75 15 is minimal. I know 235 70's are not as tall and same width so I would guess even less power loss? 225 75 15 I believe are not as wide as either 235 75 or 235 70 and in between them in height? Anyway will hopefully correct me if wrong! Not sure which would perform better or maybe just a toss up? Thanks for the input!

Here's a tire size calculator that helps you compare different tire sizes. It can give you a visual comparison of the two tires, difference in size, as well as power!

    hope this helps :)

Hey! I'm running 225/75's on, no power loss but definitely looks better than stock, but then again I have aluminum wheels. Im definitely switching to something bigger soon. Just run what you think is best, good luck!

I'm running 235/75R15 all terrain Goodyear tires. I like the look of aggressive treads on truck but they are heavy. Power loss is noticeable when going uphill, but then again, I felt the truck was already underpowered going uphill with stock tires. I think if you go with highway tires that are close to the same weight as the stock, power loss would be less noticeable.

Before I decided to buy the Goodyear tires, I was looking at used sets of 16" & 17" factory rims and tires from Rav4s and Highlanders. They are bigger in overall diameter than Tacoma 5 lug stock diameter. I could've gotten a set with near new highway tires for the same price as a set of 4 new Goodyear all-terrain tires. One deciding factor for me was the stock TPMS sensors, that are not compatible with all wheels. I wouldn't want to drive around with low tire pressure light on.
