Lol, what? Why does anyone buy anything? Because they want it or need it. Silly comment.

Save $10k over the off road and it still gets the job done. Especially if you just bomb around town all day. The other positive is that it's a proven drivetrain.

Excellent choice. I think the 2016 SR with the convenience package is the best bang for the buck. The 4 banger is more than adequate with the 6 speed AT. I got the same model as you, but in white. Only thing missing is fog lights.image.jpgimage.jpg

I'd be interested in an L4 too if I got a new one. I'd like a silver base AC 4wd with the rear seat delete and cruise control.

But since I just now hit 15k in my '14 RC, I'll probably keep it a while.

Both I4 and V6 suck in the MPG department as far as I'm concerned.

    Reasons to buy the I4
Cheaper purchase price. $4280 up charge to get the V6 in 2wd AC truck (V6 is only available in the next trim level up SR5)
Simplicity: standard otto cycle with port injection
Lower maintenance cost: less oil, less spark plugs, easier to change spark plugs etc.
    proven carryover design
    cheaper insurance

A lot of folks don't need the V6, I happen to be one of them. I'm a single guy and my usage will be daily commuting to work, home depot/department store runs, hauling my mtn bike and dirt bike. I'll never need/reach the maximum payload or towing capacity of the V6. 0-60 times doesn't concern me since my current daily driver is also an "underpowered" I4. My region (upper midwest) happens to be fairly flat ranging anywhere from 500-1200' above sea level, HP loss due to high attitude doesn't apply to my situation.

Does the 3rd gen 4 cyl take less oil than the 3rd gen V6? That would be a change from the 2nd gen engines, where the 4 cyl required more oil (according to the owners manual).

I'll take back my statement about the oil both 3rd gen engines require 6 qts per manual.

Likely it was because of price. The V6 was $6000 more when I was buying my truck.

Did you test drive the auto as well? Interested in a comparison. I have always driven MTs, a 6 speed auto might change things.

Nope they didn't have an auto to test drive or I would have for curiosity. I never owned a automatic vehicle lol
