I know there are threads about the squeaky door seals that some of us are having....I think mainly the '15 Double Cab....but not limited to those.

Mine has done it since I picked her up in June (my '09 and '13 did not). As the temps have cooled off though, it's getting worse. Of course, that fact that's it right in your ear makes it nerve-racking. A lot of focus has been put on the outside seal (the one on the door). I've tried all manner of silicone lubrication on that seal...inside, outside, both sides....but to no avail. I started to turn my focus on the inside seal (the one in the door jam). Lubing that helped some but not 100% and not for very long.

So here's what I've done. I added some electrical tape to the door corner where it makes contact with the inner seal. The tape is white so it's hard to see. Area in red outline.

    IMG_6536_zpsf0rirq9w_b1ff62b198b5deb02300aef643e1b2647cf5773c.jpg

Made sure to overlap the corner with a small piece of tape. Area in red circle.

    IMG_6533_zpsewjpoz8z_568f969d17b01304c12ae84bb7c833c4f9799628.jpg

I then lubed the inner seal corner with silicone. Area in red outline.

I also wiped some silicone on the tape as well...just for good measure. It been 2 weeks and not a peep from the seal. This includes some chilly mornings in the low 30's F and a bumpy road that's under work right now close to my house. Completely silent. If this turns out to work I may look into getting some matte finish automotive vinyl in white and replace the tape. But for now I'm just happy to have some solace.

Glad you found a fix that works for you! That's an annoying noise to intermittently have right next to your ear. I did the exact same thing - taped the door and greased the seal. But I used two different materials. I used friction tape for the door and Shin-Etsu silicone for the seal.

The combination fixed it 100% for about two or three weeks for me. Within the last week the noise has come back just a little bit so maybe it's time to grease the seal again.

I cut a slit in to mine and pushed some 1/4" plastic tubing through as much of the seal as possible, noise gone for over a year now.

I'm interested in seeing how this holds up over time. Please report back.
I'm starting to hear mine again now that the temps have dropped.

That's a good idea. From what I can tell, regardless of which weatherstripping part is making noise, the cause is the same - the interior of the weatherstrip sticking and unsticking to itself. Anything you can jam in there would prevent the noise in either location and be far more permanent than silicone. Any problems with water leaking where you cut the strip?

Will do. So far I'm 2 weeks in...and that includes washing it at least twice that I can remember. I always wipe out the jambs to help keep them clean and to reduce water drips after washing. So whatever silicone was left is probably long gone and she's still quiet.

I was sure to title the thread "possible fix" because I know the history behind this thing. We think we have it figured out and BAM....it's back. But this seems promising....at least in my case.

Gonna try this as I did the other option by spraying WD40 in all the little holes provided and besides having the shit pour out of every crevice it did absolutely nothing. @Large is that 1/4 tubing like aquarium rigid clear tubing or what kind???

IIRC: I went to the hardware store and bought 40' of 1/2" OD with 1/4" ID which is pretty thick .. I think you can fit 5/8" OD in there as well.

Edit: I think I said 1/4" in my first post, I meant 1/2" OD ..

Actually I am second guessing myself.. It is probably 1/4" OD ... It's been a year since I did it.

If the electrical tape works I wonder if the 3-M clear paint protection film would do the same thing as the tape. It would be more permanent as its designed for body sheet metal application and protection. Tough stuff and should provide the same surface as the tape. Im still not sure just what the tape does to help though unless it provides less friction than the steel door jam itself?

The film may do the trick....just as some vinyl that I might try would...which is basically what electrical tape is. The only thing I can guess is that the tape changes the way the 2 surfaces interact.

You may be able to find some vinyl in something close to PM. Otherwise, I would use black. A boomerang shaped piece of black vinyl would not look bad. Besides, the door is closed 99.9% of the time. I remember many years ago the early gen-2 Siennas had a TSB to help eliminate possible corrosion on the lower front doors that could be caused dirt build up on the inner door seal rubbing through the paint over time. The fix was to install a long curved piece of matte vinyl along the bottom and up the side a few inches of the door. It didn't look out of place at all.

I'm going to give this fix some more time. I want to see how it does when it get's really cold outside. If it does seem to work, something like this is what I have in mind. ---> http://www.amazon.com/Black-Matte-V...=1445692989&sr=1-6&keywords=matte+black+vinyl

Can't always turn up the radio when there is people in the car. And that creaking sound is absolutely fucking annoying, and does get worse as it gets colder.

@Large I used 1/4 tubing all the way around the passenger door seal. Tonight when I go out to drive the Mom to work with no radio. I will listen and see if the spooky creaking is still there. Thanks for the tip.

I may need to order a new weather stripping for my drivers side. I cut it where there was an existing hole and then the cut opened up vertically and has opened more up when driving. Does anyone have a part # or a link to where I can get a replacement.
