Seems as though you are open to just about any vehicle from Camaro to a truck. You are just concerned with snow and not off roading. In that case, a truck based 4 wd is not the best choice in drive train. Nothing works as safely as AWD with winter snow conditons on roads. With a family, I would consider a base Highlander or Rav. If they still have a Venza v6 2015, you can have lots of fun, good ground clearance and practicality. Just a few thoughts.

Everyone is talking about these "issues". What issues are the trucks having?

If you're are looking right now, I am seeing 12 to 14k off of MSRP on XLT supercrews. I may look at trading in my 2012 F150 this weekend if I can make the deal happen. Dealers are clearing out 15's to make room for the 16's.

There aren't any of significance. Mostly OCD owners ....If you look for a problem , you will find one. One guy has disappearing Power steering fluid, another has a mystery stall, Some of us are experiencing a harmonic at 45-55...None very serious. You want issues, go the the new C7 2014 Corvette Forum. So far no one has had a real service or quality issue I can see.

The list of the worst brands for reliability:

    1. Mini

    2. Lincoln

    3. Ford

    4. Cadillac

    5. Dodge

    6. Jeep

    7. Nissan

Seriously, the things being mentioned are mostly minor and few/far between. Even the 2nd gens had random issues and things that took years to get fixed.

There are new models consistently introduced by each manufacturer. I believe the "don't buy the first year model" is a myth... or at best may have been true years and years ago. The fact is, today the automobile is the most reliable it has ever been across the board for all manufacturers AND Toyota traditionally lands in the top 4 for initial quality year after year after year. It would be silly to wait to buy a vehicle on this argument alone.

That's from 2013. Here is a more current list from a more reputable source.

    Exactly.

I would not buy one now due soley to supply and demand keeping the prices higher... I'm patient and can wait at least a few months. I've decided I'm keeping my 1stt gen for now... I really like the 3rd gen, but just got my 1st gen built the way I like it.

Just lookin out for future buyers.Read the 3rd gen.threads on what's going. In 2007 when Toyota completely redesigned the Tundra from the ground up i purchased one and had absolutely no problems with the truck what so ever.I don't believe in the "myth"either but some do.By no means do i feel this is a argument what so ever.Just trying to be helpfull because i know how solid and reliable Toyota is and Toyota's are all i drive.

OP, the Blazing Blue Pearl is a bit different than the Speedway Blue, a little darker. I'm not a blue type of guy but the BBP is a very nice color.

Inferno looks amazing and really stands out. It doesn't look flat to me. That's what I'm getting when mine arrives a month from now

I am not knocking the Tacoma at all. I really liked mine but wanted to get back into a full size truck. Just traded my '13 Tacoma in for a new '15 F150. XLT, 2wd, 5.0 V8, 302a package which is the highest option package available in the XLT, tow package, electronic locking rear diff., console, tailgate step. MSRP was 44,800, 36k and change, out the door for 38k. Ford is giving crazy good discounts and incentives right now. Just food for thought for you. It's all personal preference and what works best for you when choosing a car or truck.

I didn't know about the incentives ford is giving, when I look at the inventory of the local dealers it just shows msrp, normally they will show a sale price after any available discounts but now they are not

I'm seeing 6000 here. And to get a comparable model to a loaded sport I'm still looking at 45000. 5000 is a lot of mod money.

Plus I would still need a spray in liner, tonneau cover, and would nothave an upgraded stereo, moonroof. All depends on what you want.
