Greetings! I am a 61 year old male living in CT. My last Toyota pickup was a 1980 with some custom accessories. Loved it but needed more seats.. I have a camp in Northern Maine 8 hours away and want to purchase a new Tacoma 4 door. I have waited for the 2016 to come out and now am not sure if I should get the TRD SPORT or TRD OFF ROAD? I will NOT be rock climbing or anything like that but rather be traveling on the thousands of miles of logging trails. Most of them fairly smooth but some would be muddy, rocky, so my needs would be first comfort then off road ability and not sure if I need the Locking Rear Diff. or just posi any suggestions?

it is better to have it,and not need it. than to need it, and not have it. if you can afford it, go for it.

Billies and Eibachs, Camburg BJ UCAs, Demello hybrid sliders SOS HC rear bumper, SOS front bumper, Warn M80000, fully armored, Safari snorkel, No-slip locker, diff breather, bumper and roof mounted light bars, onboard Viair, 275/70 17 BFG ATs, and a badass sound system.
I just took my 2015 sr5 out for a long weekend in the AZ mountains. I drove about 75 miles through pretty rough forest road. It had just rained a few days earlier so there was a pretty good combination of mud and rock. It performed like a champ. I intentionally tried to get stuck in 2wd and once I was buried up to the hubs in a mud hole I just put it in 4lo and it popped right out. A locker would be nice but I think you'll be fine without one if you don't want it. My dad was there in his 2011trd sport and drove the same roads almost as easily (I have bfg ATs, he has the stock tires).
