My name is Dave. Old friends call me bama Dave. I'm an Army veteran and Air Force retired. I recently purchaed a 2016 Tacoma SR with the convenience package. I've had Toyota pickup trucks since the early 1970s. The very first one I had was a diesel. I was living in Wyoming at the time, and I remember in the winter, the diesel fuel would turn to jello and the truck would not run. I've always had a Toyota pickup n my driveway, different model years of course.

I think the best Toyota pickup I've had so far was a 2007 base. It was literally bullet proof and ran like a top. I traded it in on a 2015 Tacoma access cab. It was a 4 cylinder, 4 speed AT. To me it was not so good. On the highway, I didn't dare try to pass someone. If I tramped on the gas peddle, it would just moan.

My 2016 SR has the same 4 cylinder, but with the 6 speed AT. Makes a big difference. The only complaint I have with my new Tacoma is getting in and out of it. It sits higher up than the 2015.

I think I may be different than most other members in that I'm 69 years of age, and I only drive my truck on paved roads. When I come to a dirt road, I turn around and go back the other way.

I live in Montgomery. Retired from Maxwell AFB in 1993 and decided to stay here in Montgomery. After my military retirement, I worked at Maxwell for 15 years as a civilian and then retired for the last time in 2008.
