Reading through some old posts I partially fixed my rear diff lock on a 4x2 Tacoma pre runner. (embarrassed to say there was no fuse in the 4x4 slot...go figure...didnt know that would matter since have a 4 x 2) the light on the dashboard goes on but the button never lights up. I can also hear the differential engaging. Question 1- is it important that the button light goes on when I see that the dashboard icon lights up? Question 2- I can't disengage the differential now...at least on the dashboard it still lit up. I can also hear the diff either working or trying to work.what do I do?? Question 3- I see the ABS light goes on as well. Is that Normal?

anything to get me going Id appreciate. Do I jack up truck and turn on and off the diff to see if it is actually lighting up?

I'm no expert but when I exercised my rear diff lock for the first couple times it wouldn't disengage right away. Try driving forward about 5' while turning the wheel about 3/4, then go the other way and reverse. That's what worked for me. I definitely wouldn't drive it if the dash lights are lit up.

The button doesn't light up when the diff is locked, nothing to worry about there. As far as not unlocking, try driving in an S shape after you unlock it that will help disengage the sliding collar that locks the spider gears together
