Ok, I bought a set of Image Dynamics CXS64 speakers, and the kit from *********. But actual information on how to install and wire them is hard to come up with.

They sent 1 pair of wiring harness adapters, which I assume are for the 6.75"'s But how do you wire up the tweeters and the crossovers? For now stock radio, no amp. I just want to replace the speakers.

I sent them a request for help, but haven't heard anything from them...
Anybody have any help for me?

I don't have experience with ********* adapters, but it sounds like you would plug that adapter into the stock speaker plug, then wire it to the input of the crossover. The crossover should have separate woofer and tweeter connections that you would wire to your new ID woofer and tweeters. I'd advise against mounting the crossover in the door panel, because you could have water seep in, and well...water and electronics don't play well. Ideally you would mount it somewhere in the cabin like near the footwell. But, that would make the ********* adapter a little less useful as you would now need to fish wire through the door boot and into the cabin (to get speaker signal to the crossover and from the crossover back to the new ID speakers).

If you feel comfortable with wiring, then I would recommend splicing into the speaker cable that's inside the cabin going to the stock speakers, then only fish your tweeter and woofer cables through the door boot and into the door. It makes your ********* adapter useless, but it would make for a more clean install.

Good luck! Don't hesitate to ask more questions.

Yeah, not quite what I was talking about. The speaker wiring adaptor is a Metra part. (plugs into the factory harness), the speaker adapters are made by ********* to mount the speakers.

To be more specific, what I need to know is how the factory tweeter get it's signal. If it comes from the factory 6x9(ish) speaker, then fine, if it comes from somewhere else, (head unit or other hidden factory crossover), then it's an issue.

I guess I'll pull the panel and have a look. But I was really hoping to only have to do this once.

The tweeters are fed off the main line headed to the woofer. I will try to find the wiring diagram I used to show it. Basically when I did mine (the same setup you have), I just clipped the wires headed to the tweeter and just connected them together to make a complete circuit.

Used the wires headed to the stock woofer as the input for the crossover then wired accordingly from there.

In the meantime, just know there is no separate wire run for the stock tweeters and there are no hidden crossovers in the stock setup.

^what he said. the tweeters are paralleled off the cable going to the woofers. a full range signal is sent to the tweeters, but some sort of bass blocker is used to filter out the lower frequencies. there's no separate tweeter feed from inside the cabin.

    Ok, an update.

I installed a ********* Recurve, a JL Audio XD500/3 amp, a JL Audio Stealthbox, and the ID 64 speakers. Dynamatted the doors and closed up the holes.. Long day...

Ran new speaker wires to the doors, and stashed the crossovers in the center console next to the shifter.

Other than a pretty weak signal from the HU, it sounds awesome....

But DAMN>>> cutting up the storage box to fit the sub was a bitch.... The key is having a hand held hacksaw blade. A Dremel works for some cuts, but...
