Not only is this my first Tacoma, but my first truck.

When I was shopping for it, I knew I was buying a 4-door (got 2 kids in car seats) and had to make a decision between a 6-speed SB or a Auto LB because in Canada that's all that was available. I was wanting an Auto SB but Toyota doesn't offer that configuration here. So I decided I wanted a SB more than an Auto trans so I went with the 6 speed, and I'm glad I did.

I told myself that if I got a Toyota, it would have to be black...yes, because of BTTF. That little pickup stuck with throughout the years. I test drove the new Colorado, but I still prefered the Taco even with it's 10 year old tech.

I didn't want or feel the need for the additional wheel base length and I prefer the proportions of the SB from and aesthetics point of view. I had concerns about the manual trans, but so far it shifts buttery smooth at 2500 rpm and the clutch is pretty light. My petite wife has no problem driving it either.

The first thing I did was get annual rust-proofing spray applied since I plan on keeping it for a very long time. I then installed Dee-Zee step bars, and OEM bug deflector, an Extang tonneau cover and door-sill protectors. I'd like to get the OEM skid plate next. In my garage is a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks and steel rims for the upcoming winter.

I've got about 9500 km so far and this truck is everything I wanted it to be. People asked me what I wanted a truck for and already it's been a great tool to have around the house...Picking up parts for my 69 Charger restoration, getting landscapping supplies, helping people move stuff, getting furniture, etc.

We often find ourselves using the truck instead of the CR-V simply because I love to drive it, especially after a nice wash and detailing...I think it looks great. We took it on our annual vacation that added about 2000km to the clock and it was an absolute pleasure. Fuel economy wasn't bad because I knew what to expect. Coming back, the first few hours were mostly uphill and the truck did almost as well as our CR-V does because the truck was forcing it's way up the hills as much as the CR-V tries to do with it's 4cyl. The backup camera, XM radio, and heated seats are great to have.

All this to say...I love this truck and I'm happy with my purchase!
