I've checked all the rust throughout and banged on all of the scales. There isn't any integrity issues as the frame and other rusted parts and everything is solid.

Everything is certainly just surface, my main issue is with knowing that cleaning it up and then getting it coated will solve the issue at hand???[/QUOTE]
Cant just bang on scales. Need to use a needle gun to do it right. Knock some rust scales off and might look good but still might have a lot to knock off. If you still see some black theres still scales. Need to be shinny.
Hope they use a needle gun or sand blast it. Grinding and sanding is not good enough.
Will try and see if can get some pics of examples.
Hope everything works out for you.

my 2010 tacoma is rusting as well, not as bad as yours. it has 22,000 miles on it, bought from a guy in philadelphia with 10,500 miles in 2013, and it wasnt used as a plow truck or anything crazy like that. dealer serviced from new, eevery 3-4k. these are not covered yet, and i havent been able to find a definitive answer yet on when or if they changed frame coating methods from the factory or supplier. clearly it hasnt been resolved, and im hoping they extend the recall to 2010s
