Some of us just don't want or need a full size truck. My boss owns a Ram 2500, the other day I took him out to explore one of the ranches we've been working at. He admitted that his 4x4 Diesel Ram wouldn't have been able to get through some of the trails that we went through. Sure the Tacoma has gotten a bit bigger over the years, but it is still nimble and robust enough for our needs.

After a 30 mile trip earlier, I averaged 21mpg. Not bad considering I have a lead foot and came unto decent traffic.

I think all the butthurt 2nd genrs are kinda funny, "Im driving yesterdays news, that makes me superior and cool". Um, ok.

What I don't understand is them coming onto the 3rd gen forum - I never go to the 2nd gen forum. Why would I? Theres absolutely nothing that interests me there.

Isn't the title for this thread "Question for 2nd-geners?" Gee, wonder why they're here...

I wonder why folks get so upset because somebody offers an opinion they don't particularly like; it's almost as if their self-image has been besmirched. What's next, calls for mods to respond to Tacoma micro-aggressions?

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Actually many of us owned 1gen as fun truck and 2gen as work truck.
3gen is neither. Same model has Less towing capacity than my 9 year old Tacoma, and less payload. Talking about lame crap :D...

To put it into perspective; when the 2007 JK Wrangler was introduced in '06, the same shit happened on Jeep Forum. Everyone shat on the JK's underpowered minivan engine and overly plastic interior/body compared to the previous generation with its "tried-and-true engine and components." Sound familiar?

Eventually, the aftermarket support caught up and everyone warmed up to the new model.

    Happy day.
