What is the best brand lift/tire combination? I'm wanting to build a pretty awesome rig but I'm not really sure what direction I'm wanting to go. I'm liking the expedition route alot and I'm thinking of a 3" lift. I'm out of the woods on what is the best quality brands these days and this is my first Tacoma. IMG_20151018_130146.jpg

The real question is how deep are you pockets? OME is a quality lift that is on the budget side of things. I have ORI's up front and an ironman 2" kit in the back (I do not suggest ironman).

Considering you dont know what you want to use the vehicle for I would suggest figuring that out first. A solid mid travel set up could do a bit of everything well though and thats probably what I would suggest.

Ultimately I'm going to be on trails and out hunting. Nothing super extreme. I just got the truck a week ago and it looks like the previous owner put the bilstein 5100s on the front, with 265s and the rest is stock. And I'm willing to spend the money for good quality.

Hell, I'd just drive it as is. Anything much more than 265's and the power loss sucks. I had to regear for my 35's. I would spend the money on skids, sliders and a rear bumper. The reg cabs on 265's are plenty capable for a hunting rig.

If you are dead set on a lift the I would say OME to get you looking in the right direction.

It is in the process. Griding off the welds, adding the stinger and whatnot. Throw some paint on it.. I'm done for today though.

I'm pretty up in the air about what I'm going to do there. I've been reading and doing the research trying to get an idea of which direction I want to go.

Don't be conflicted, you'll make the wrong choice.

Use the truck as is. Once you figure out your actual usage (not what you think you'll do) you can make choices based on function for your needs, not web ad hype. How you use the vehicle 80-90% of the time is the target you want to build to, not to the once every 5 years scenario.

You may find it's just fine as is for your purposes.

Looks like you're ready to go where no $70,000 crew cab diesel shop queen can go.

Spend the money get coilovers and 33's. Unless you're auto then stay 31's but I got 265's and now I totally wish I had 33's. I've got icon 2.5's upfront, I did tc USA and spindle gussets as well as removed sway bar, skids, sliders and will be adding bumpers as soon as I'm off shift. I've got a 5spd ac and the power loss isn't bad at all with the 5spd. I've also been carting around a rack and rtt for a month now. I've got Ironman 4x4 foam cell shocks out back. I love them and just did an ask for now wishing I had Dakars a shackle flip and 14" shocks now though. Anyways here's some pics. Also I agree use your truck stock then build. I got sliders first then tires then lift etc...
