I have searched but found nothing regarding this. I have just bought a new 2016 Tacoma Texas Edition. It is my first Toyota truck as well as my first 4x4, so I'm sort of excited.

I am right leg amputee. It is a bit of a challenge to find that small gas pedal with my prosthetic foot. The first challenge I'm having is getting a left foot accelerator installed. I am trying to find out if I can easily remove the foot rest or if I'm going to have to get a cutting torch working on this thing.

The dealer I purchased it from says it is part of the molded, steel floor. However I have low confidence in their answer as it didn't seem as if anyone was very knowledgeable regarding this at all.

I suppose I could get in there and start tearing the carpet up, but I thought someone here may know. I'm pretty sure that I have read that earlier models had a plastic foot rest that was very easily removed.

I appreciate whatever help y'all might be able to give.

    Thanks,
    -TC

That is looking like good news to me. Actually, that photo encouraged me to tear my truck apart. That is exactly what it looks like and is easily removable. Thank you all very much.

That piece of Styrofoam is definitely welded to the frame

    Dealers are such uninformed

That's funny, my team puts this part on for sienna and highlander.
Should have two studs welded to the floor that the foot pad click onto.
    Dealers are idiots.

There's white tabs in those two holes that hold the foam footrest to the floor. How do those tabs come out without breaking them or tearing the footrest?

They push on and thread off. There are two studs weldeds to the floor.
Don't worry if you break the foam thought. Just silicone it down

@TMMIgirl @NIU_Huskies did you all remove this foot rest? Purchased my truck in October and love it other than that pesky foot rest. Have had a 01' and 08' tacoma before my 17' and this is the one thing that I'd love to change. I am only 6 foot, but that foot rest makes me feel like an NBA player.

You can pull back the carpet and take out the styrofoam but your carpet is formed for that shape. It might be weird with it gone.
    I'm only 5'3 , so i need it.

Hey Terry @tcharp - your medical insurance may pay for the mod to give you access; a friend of mine had his truck adapted for his wheelchair that way. Good luck!
