There's really not a lot of science or fancy math formulas behind it. Caster settings and wheel width will effect how much you rub, to which degree nobody can really say. Depends how you wheel the truck, how shot your LCA bushings are, how wide/large the tire you buy actually measures, etc. The easiest method is just cut and then flex out the truck to see where it continues to hit.

Actually I think I just figured out the formula. Amount of fender to cut out=

    [(tire height)/(backspace) x (1/(caster*)) x sqrt(wheel width) x (penis length/2)] / (wheel size)

For my truck it seemed to work out [(36/4)x(1/3.2)xsqrt(8)*(9/2)] / (16) = 2.237"

and I cut out 2.25" so that seemed to be a good formula. Insert your numbers into the formula and see what the outcome is. Linwood please add this to OP. Perhaps someone else could figure out the forumla for how far we need to smash the firewall.

I got 1.35" but I think my dick size skewed the results and the formula needs to take into account shock valving info or maybe hammer weight used to smash shit.

Yeah obviously but it's nice to have a good place to start out instead of just winging it.

Needs diameter of bicep and weight of hammer on Mars.

Here is a photo dump of when I did mine. Used ruler wheel to mark of 2", didn't need any more than that, and cut away. Can't believe that was 2.5 years ago, time flies when you're having fun I guess.

After cutting my fenders I use door edge trim to clean it all up. Super easy to apply and I think it looks great. It cleans up any imperfections in the cut and now I don't have sharp fender edges. I know some people put their flares back on but I plan to run my truck with out them. Just need to plug the holes for the clips. What did you guys do as far as your open fenders?. Did any one put a lining back in?

I've left my fenders open. Yeah, you get a bit more mud and debris in there, but it's not that big of a deal. Just wash it out when you get home.

When that "trim" starts falling off give me a shout. :D

@NYCO did this recently and spoon did some abs a little while back too. I'm going the abs route when I get my truck fixed.

Fenders open is better IMO. When I chopped mine I had a ton of dirt and debris trapped behind there. Now that there open I just wash the wheel wells out after A weekend trip wheeling.

I really appreciate all the in-progress pics. I'll probably have to run flares because state police.

At this point I'm looking at 16x8 wheels w/ 315/75r16s. Probably run on stock gears for a while or forever because doing gear work in early spring doesn't work without a garage.
