How to disable seatbelt alert on 3rd gen?

Hi team- I do a lot of in-and-out driving on a small island and need to disable the seatbelt alert for my own sanity. I found plenty of instructions on the second generation but not working on my 3rd gen truck. Any leads appreciated. Thanks! Andy

I had some heavy objects on the passenger seat and the damn seat belt warning bell started to drive me crazy. It must have thought someone was seated there.

 

Contact your dealer, ask them nicely

 

No malfunction. The weight was probably that of a 10 year old on the seat.

 

Lol I love how no matter what forum it is when ever someone asks the question about seat belt chimes theres always more trolls saying wear your seat belt than people with a response. For what its worth when I bought my subaru the way to disabled it was the same as the previous gen so you may want to check there, maybe they left it the same. Every manufacturer has a way to disable it typically involving some type of buckling and unbuckling ignition on ignition off process.

 

I'm not suggesting that you don't wear your seatbelt by saying this, but couldn't you just buckle it up then sit down?

 

Had the dealer turn off mine, going to have him turn off door ajar too the next time I'm there.

 

I tried twice with my dealer.
1. Won't complete disable it. "Liability" BS!
2. Can't change it to only come on after a certain MPH. No software option for it.

I only not wear mine around locally at 35- 40 mph usually. Are you saying it comes back on after faster speeds ?

Do what we did on our old patrol cars.... Get another seatbelt end and shove it in there. We got a bunch from a tow lot for free for the police interceptors. I am sure a scrap yard or something has some (maybe from a second Gen?)

 

Yeah.. If you live on a farm and are driving at 2 mph. loading hay, etc..... and getting out every 3 minutes... the seat beat thingy WILL drive you mad...
